EmPower and Solar

  • EmPower's Vision: We are driven by the fundmental belief that renewable energy will lead to a more prosperous, healthy and civil world.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Sustainable technologies like solar and wind energy systems are essential components of ensuring a cleaner planet.
  • Energy Independence: Imported fossil fuels strangle the U.S. economy and continue to threaten our national security. Solar is one key solution that will both generate green jobs in the U.S. and reduce our reliance on energy imports.
  • Highest Quality Solar Products: EmPower is proud to sell American-made solar equipment that is consistently rated the best in the industry.
Net Meters and Inverters

How Solar Works

  • The Photoelectric Effect: Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity using a process that releases no pollutants or gases into the atmosphere.
  • Net Metering: When solar production is greater than the building's electricity demand the surplus is sold to the utility company.

Solar Equipment

  • Solar Module: A panel made of a crystalline semiconductor that converts light into electricity.
  • Inverters: Solar panels produce direct current (DC) electricity. Inverters are used to turn DC into alternating current (AC) so that it can connect to the main electrical systems.
  • Electrical Equipment: Electrical wire, conduit, boxes and associated equipment known as "Balance of Plant" is also needed to install the system.
  • Mounting System: An aluminium and/or steel mounting system is used to hold the solar panels and racks in place on either the roof or ground.
