David Schieren
CEO

David leads EmPower as its Chief Executive Officer. He co-founded the company in 2003 with the goal of EmPowering people to use clean energy to control energy costs, clean the air, end oil dependency and dramatically improve the standard of living.

David is responsible for managing the company, with a specific focus on strategy, business development, client relationship management, operations, financial, legal, recruiting and corporate culture. He works closely with the CTO and the management team on leading and growing the company.

David is a NABCEP Certified Photovoltaic Installer. He has a Master of Science in Energy Management from the New York Institute of Technology, where he received the Faculty Award for outstanding achievement. He has a BA in Economics from the University of Vermont where he received the Freeman Saltus Award in Economics.

He co-founded the Solar Decathlon Alumni Association that seeks to build an alumni community and advocacy group from the participants in the US Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon bi-annual competition.
